Every e-bike in our fleet is path-legal on Sanibel.

Finnimore's has rented bikes on Periwinkle Way for 41 years. We were renting e-bikes on Sanibel before most visitors had ridden one, and we deliver to both Sanibel and Captiva — something few shops on either island do.
What e-bike do you rent?
We rent the Aventon Pace 500, a step-through cruiser built for exactly the kind of riding Sanibel offers: flat, paved, and long.

Are your e-bikes legal on the Sanibel bike path?
Yes. This is the question we get more than any other, and the answer matters.
Sanibel permits Class 1 e-bikes only on the Shared Use Path — pedal assist, no throttle, assistance cutting off at 20 mph. The Aventon Pace 500 ships from the factory with a throttle, which would make it a Class 2 and prohibited on the path.
We remove the throttle from every bike in our fleet. Aventon designed the Pace 500 to run with the throttle unplugged for exactly this reason — riding in places where throttles aren't allowed. We also leave every bike at its default 20 mph pedal-assist setting rather than unlocking the higher-speed mode.
The result is a bike that meets Sanibel's Class 1 requirement as we hand it to you. You don't have to check settings, avoid a control, or hope you're compliant.

How far can I ride on one charge?
Aventon rates the Pace 500 at up to 60 miles per charge. That figure is measured on flat terrain in the lowest assist setting — and Sanibel is flat. There are no hills on this island to drain a battery.
For scale: our shop to the end of Captiva and back is roughly 23 miles round trip. Riding the full length of Sanibel's path system and back is about 30 miles. A single charge covers either with room to spare, even at a higher assist level.
In practice, almost nobody on a day rental gets close to the limit. If you're planning something longer, call us and we'll talk it through.
Where can I ride?
Sanibel's Shared Use Path runs more than 26 miles, from Lighthouse Beach Park on the east end to the Blind Pass Bridge on the west, with the path continuing onto Captiva. It's fully paved and almost entirely flat.

Do you deliver e-bikes?
Yes — to every property on Sanibel and Captiva. Resorts, condos, private rentals, wherever you're staying. We bring the bikes to you and collect them at the end.
Delivery is $10 to Sanibel and $25 to Captiva, round trip — that price covers both drop-off and pickup. Two-day minimum rental.
No bike rack, no second car trip. The bikes are waiting when you arrive.
Should I rent an e-bike or a regular bike?
Honestly, it depends on your day — and we rent both.
If you're riding a few miles to lunch and back along Periwinkle, a standard cruiser is fine and costs less. The e-bike earns its price when you want to reach Captiva, when you're riding in August heat, when there's a headwind coming off the Gulf, or when your group has riders of different fitness levels and you'd rather stay together than spread out over a mile of path.
One firm constraint: Sanibel requires e-bike riders to be 16 or older. Families riding with younger kids will need standard bikes, trailers or trail-a-bikes — we rent all of those.

How do I book?
Call (239) 472-5577 or reserve online. We're open 9:00am–5:00pm, seven days a week.
In season, e-bikes go faster than anything else we rent. If your dates are set, book ahead rather than walking in.
