Finnimore's has rented on Sanibel for 41 years. We rent single kayaks, double kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and Aqua Lily Pads — and we make it easy to actually get them onto the water, which is the part most people worry about.

No add-on fees, no equipment upcharges. The soft racks matter more than people expect: a kayak is easy to rent and awkward to move, and a rack turns "how would we even get it there" into a non-question.

Booking 2 days? Book 4. Our 2, 3 and 4 day rentals are all the same price — $100 for a single kayak, $120 for a paddleboard. If you're here for the week, take the extra days at no cost.

Which should I rent?
Single kayak ($50/day) — the easy default. Sitting down, stable, no experience needed. Best first choice for most people.
Double kayak ($75/day) — two adults, or a parent with a younger child. Worth noting the double costs less than two singles.
Paddleboard ($75/day) — standing gives you a much better view down into the water. Rays, fish and the occasional manatee are far easier to spot from a board. Takes some balance, and wind makes it harder, so pick a calm morning.
Aqua Lily Pad ($50/day) — a large floating foam mat you anchor off the beach and use as a platform to swim from, lie on and jump off. Holds several people, needs no skill at all. It's the one families come back for — kids who won't sit still in a kayak will spend a whole afternoon on a Lily Pad.

Where to paddle on Sanibel and Captiva

When to go out
Morning is calmer. Wind builds through the day on both islands, and flat water in the morning can turn choppy by mid-afternoon. This matters far more on a paddleboard than in a kayak.
Check the tide. Shallow backwater areas can get too thin to paddle at low tide. If you're heading somewhere sheltered, a rising tide is usually the safer bet.
Wildlife is an early-morning thing. Dolphins, manatees, rays and wading birds are all most active before the water gets busy.
Do I need experience?
Not for a kayak. If you can sit in a chair and move your arms, you can paddle one, and sheltered water on Sanibel is about as forgiving as it gets.
A paddleboard takes a little more. Most people find their balance within ten or fifteen minutes, and starting on calm water in the morning makes it much easier. If you've never been on one, it's worth beginning on your knees and standing up once you're moving.
Delivery and pickup
Free delivery on Sanibel and Captiva, including same-day when we have the equipment available. We bring everything to your rental, condo or resort and collect it at the end.
If you'd rather pick up yourself, we're at 2353 Periwinkle Way with free parking, and the soft racks are there waiting.
